More Muck on the NFC

On Wednesday, there was more muck on the NFC scandal. This time questions were raised on the ownership and expenses involving Shahrizat’s RM534,000 Mercedes Benz CLS 350 CGI and two lots of land in Putrajaya's Precinct 10 worth RM3,363,507. PKR strategic director, Rafizi Ramli who disclosed these details to reporters said he was also seeking for Shahrizat to clarify monthly payments to a travel agency which ranged from RM1,000 to RM120,000.

“We were anticipating her response and hoped that she would be more humble but since that was not the case, we decided to add more misappropriations”, said Rafizi alluding to to Shahrizat’s tit-for-tat response to allegations of misuse of public funds by her family involving NFC.

Shahrizat’s fightback – if it can be called that – had no substance – she merely deflected all the issues pertaining to NFC. If her Wanita UMNO members gave her a thunderous applause and a standing ovation, it confirms that these UMNO Malays have no sense of shame at all! Sad but true!

It is very intriguing why Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar came out with a press statement yesterday that they have not found any element of criminal breach of trust (CBT) in their investigations into claims of financial misconduct made against the NFC! This is a rather puzzling move as the police should not have issued any statement(s) regarding any ongoing investigations before they have been completed. I also question the timing of this baffling statement – more so when the UMNO general assembly is on this week. After all, Khalid himself admitted that it is only an initial finding and that police will continue to examine the case!
