Beer Food

The flap over Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia will not simmer down just yet. In fact, KR1M is coming under even closer scrutiny because the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry had instructed its operator to send two hundred products sold in the shop for further testing (The Sun, December 08, 2011, p 04). And guess what? This same news report also made known the fact that “the KR1M fresh milk tested positive for E.coli bacteria contamination, a strain of bacteria which causes food poisoning”. Operator Ameer Ali Mydin who keeps on denying should just apologize and compensate his customers.

UK’s The Sun published a story on Monday of an American trucker who crashed into a snowdrift without food or water but survived nearly three days on frozen beer.

Clifton Vial, 52, was carrying crates of Coors Light cans on Monday last week when he became stuck in the Alaskan wilderness. He was unable to dig his lorry out and had no mobile signal to call help.

So Clifton ended up "eating" the solid beer. He said: "I cut the lids off and dug it out with a knife." It wasn't until Wednesday that his company reported him missing to police and Thursday afternoon by the time he was found. He lost 16lbs in the 60-hour ordeal.

So the moral of the story? Always keep beer in your car! You’ll never know when you can get thirsty and/or hungry!!
