Forbidden Fruits & Vegetables

I was browsing through the UK’s The Daily Mail online, munching carrots and cucumbers when I spotted this December 10, 2011 news about a Europe-based Islamic cleric who dictated that women should not be close to bananas or cucumbers, in order to avoid any “sexual thoughts”. The cleric said that these fruits and vegetables “resemble the male penis” and could arouse women or “make them think of sex”, in a story reported on Egyptian news website Bikya Masr. For good measure, he also added carrots and courgette (also called zuchinni) to the list of forbidden foods for women.

The unnamed sheikh was quoted by el-Sawsana news saying that if women wish to eat them, a third party, preferably a male relative, should cut the said items into small slices and serve.

Wow, will there be a fatwa on this? I hope with this posting, JAKIM already notorious for haram-ing things, may want to take notice and do the necessary!

Please, don't stop there! I shall include brinjals (also called aubergines or eggplants), kundru (also called tindora or ivy gourds), daikon radishes, lotus roots, maize corn, gherkins, and petolas. Did I miss out any other fruits and vegetables?
