Ray of Hope

The above painting, "Ray of Hope" has got to be my #1 favorite amongst the artworks from Sumithra Art thus far. I mean, they are all beautiful pieces but this one, I love it!

Yesterday, the Reds soundly beat the Gunners 3-0 in a victory that leaves them in fifth place.

The only surprise was that it took dominant Liverpool so long to make their superiority count. They finally got the breakthrough they deserved after 64 minutes when Diogo Jota headed Trent Alexander-Arnold's brilliant delivery past the Arsenal goalkeeper.

Liverpool doubled their lead four minutes later when Mohamed Salah took advantage of poor defending to slide the ball into the net.

Jota was the beneficiary of more good work from Alexander-Arnold when he slammed home his second from close range with eight minutes left – by then, though, the game had become a formality.

With a Champions League quarter-final first leg away to Real Madrid on Tuesday, Liverpool suddenly look like a team with renewed purpose and momentum. Hopefully, this sense of purpose and momentum will carry on.

Also on the same day, Celtic beat Falkirk 3-0 in a Scottish Cup match.

James Forrest scored in the fifty-sixth minute as the former overcame the latter's stubborn resistance in the third round. The winger found the net with the aid of a deflection after the League 1 leaders had kept the Scottish Cup holders at bay for 55 minutes.

Ryan Christie's low strike two minutes later quickly doubled the lead.

And substitute Mohamed Elyounoussi's deft chip in the seventy-ninth minute gave Celtic a scoreline that better reflected their dominance.

This victory maintains their hopes of a record-extending fifth successive Scottish Cup.

Yesterday, Celtic got the better of Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, winning 1-0.

David Turnbull's strike in the fourteenth minute took the former to within 15 points of leaders Rangers.

Sumithra Devi: Budding Talent, Prolific Artist

I had already featured Sumithra Devi (right) in August – my post “Sumithra Devi: Arts with Passion” – and still, I feel compelled to add a second write-up because this budding talent is a prolific artist.

She paints with impetuous ardour and her dexterity with brushes is keenly seen. The bursts of enthusiasm and flourishes of earnestness produce a smorgasbord of twirls, swirls and whirls.

It’s hard to deny that her acrylic depictions are impressive in their deftness, delicateness and depth. An intuitive colorist who skilfully conjures up a combo of artworks that are a labor of love!

Check out another of her collection of twelve paintings – a potpourri of diverse themes that is transformed into lavish imagery that marries striking simplicity and sheer beauty:

Sumithra Devi: Art with Passion

I met Sumithra Devi by chance and then got to know of her passion for acrylic painting.

A self-taught artist, she can turn a blank canvas into a lush landscape that is sure to put you under its spell with its quiet charm and wondrous enchantment.

There’s something special about her. A meticulous painter whose brushstrokes are contrastive, subtle yet bold. And her careful choice of colors is provocatively infatuating.

To her, red is more than just red. It’s either Chili red or Salmon red or Burgundy red or Maroon red or Mahogany red. And more.

Likewise for yellow – it can be Banana yellow, Eggnog yellow, Sepia yellow, Mellow yellow or Flax yellow. And still more. Or if it’s blue, it can be Azure blue, Sky blue, Denim blue, Navy blue or Prussian blue. And much, much more.

Meaning, she's able to manipulate colors to produce rainbows of dramatic hues. So what we see is a palette that is a coup of intense vibrancy and shadowed by delicate nuances. Indeed, the gamut of colors is luxurious in its richness.

And now, she is sharing with us her veritable collection of paintings that is brimming with joie-de-vivre; a selection that has been reverently colored with love and passion. I may be the only one to think so but I swear there are Monet-like hints, Cezanne-like cues in her artwork.

Sumithra Devi: Arts with passion.

I am, therefore, pleased to showcase her oeuvre – and in this post, you’ll find twelve of her art pieces that are characterized by the artist's vivid depiction of nature in all its beauty and glory:
