HK Prof Says PR Cannot Win GE13

The Star on Saturday (p 24) chose to print a Hong Kong university professor’s prediction that PR will still be unable to form the next goverrnment. City University’s Asian and International Studies Department’s Prof William Case maintained that the increase in support from Chinese and urban Malay voters – even to that above what it won in 2008 – would not translate into Pakatan taking over Putrajaya. What does he know about the actual Malaysian situation? Let’s wait for GE13, shall we?

On Thursday, I was supposed to be somewhere else for a night out but I went to Vistana Hotel KL instead to help out at the Metro Toastmasters Club Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests. I was both Ballot Counter and back-up Test Speaker.

Anyway, here are two photos of How Yee (above), the Test Speaker who incidentally spoke very well. If she takes herself seriously, she can emerge as a good speaker. By the way, Mohd Shukur won both the Humorous Speech and Evaluation contests and he will represent his club in the Area P1 contests.

In Saturday’s SPL match, Celtic had started as the brighter side. Kris Commons sent them in front with a low finish (4) after a brisk move involving Scott Brown and Gary Hooper. But St Johnstone pressed on and an equalizer duly arrived, when. Rowan Vine played a pass infield to Grégory Tadé who lashed a shot beyond Celtic goalie Fraser Forster (18). And with 10 minutes to play, Vine curled home a sublime shot after collecting Nigel Hasselbaink's pass. And so, St Johnstone came from behind to claim their first win of the season and stun reigning champions Celtic.
