AELB Issues TOL to Lynas

Malaysia's Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) is reportedly satisfied that “all technical aspects” had been complied with and so, it has now decided to issue the TOL to Lynas effective two years from September 03 this year to September 02, 2014 (The Star, September 06, 2012, p 28). Isn’t this a strange decision given that the court case is still ongoing?

On August 28, five Kuantan residents made headway in their last-ditch bid to stop Lynas Corp from firing up its plant after they got the High Court’s nod to challenge the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister’s decision to award a TOL to the Australian miner. Isn’t the AELB in contempt of court by agreeing to issue the TOL? Why the haste?

Last evening, the ninth meeting of the Sunway University Toastmasters Club got underway and it was a repeated success. We had a total of 29 people at the meeting, including eleven guests (four of whom were Toastmasters from Taman Indrahana and Monash Sunway). The quality of speeches and evaluations were as expected – good!

In fact, special mention must be made of the two speeches delivered by Ashwinee Rvan and Nawal Lyana who impressed all of us. I marveled at the great strides they have made in their speeches. I mean, they have only just presented CC speeches Nos. 3 and 2 respectively. I couldn't help but gushed with pride that they spoke so well.
