31 Million Cases

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections worldwide snaked past 31 million yesterday. And the number of fatalities slithered upwards to 962,688.

Already, the US has reached 7 million cases  and if you must know, they're in an unshakeable position at No.1!

The situation is taking a turn for the worse in other countries too. In fact, the tally of countries recording 100,000 cases or more has increased to 36.

Yesterday, Sadio Mane's brace gave Liverpool all three points in an EPL match against Chelsea.

Roberto Firmino initiated the sequence with a ball to Mohamed Salah, and then continued his run to receive the return ball. His lofted cross was perfectly placed for Mane to head home in the fiftieth minute. And then Blues goalkeeper inadvertently made a casual pass that was cleanly intercepted by Mane, who turned the ball into an empty net four minutes later.

This was the 13th time Mane scored more than once in an EPL game, but the first away from home. The forward has scored in each of his last three away league games for Liverpool.

The next match is Thursday when the Reds travel to Lincoln City for their FA Cup tie. And their next Premier League action will be against Arsenal at Anfield on September 28.
