If there’s one thing that Rentokil know about, it’s pests. And to celebrate its 85th anniversary, pest control service Rentokil launched a pop-up ‘Pestaurant’ PR stunt to bring attention to what they do. As well as dishing out tips on how to avoid pest problems, they served up Sweet Chili Pigeon Burgers, Wasabi Weaver Ants, Crunchy Cricket Snax, BBQ Mealworms, Sun Dried Caterpillars, Chocolate Flavored Dipped Bugs and other interesting edibles – for one day only, i.e. August 15, 2013.

The location was not in Asia but in the City of London itself! At One New Change – a sprawling shopping mall featuring a warren of high street retailers, office buildings and restaurants and a short stroll away from St Paul's Cathedral.

The food was free to everyone adventurous enough to try it.

The menu may not sound appetizing, but it is healthy. Insects especially have been found to be rich in protein, zinc, calcium and iron while also being low in fat. And they have been identified as a potentially valuable source of food for the world's rapidly growing population.

On Monday, I was at the Money & You Toastmasters meeting where I delivered CC speech #4 titled "The 90-Year Old Bride". There were elements of horror in my speech and it fitted well with the Halloween (!) theme. Thanks to Chong How Yee for giving me a speaking slot – I am on my eleventh round of CC speeches.
