The Return of Kevin Rudd

Kevin Rudd (left) ousted Julia Gillard as Labor Party chief in a dramatic internal ballot and booted out the country’s first female prime minister as the party fights desperately to head off a stinging defeat in September 2013 elections.

The embattled Gillard called the vote on Wednesday after a day of internal party maneuvering to dump her in favor of her arch-rival and predecessor, whom she herself had ruthlessly deposed in 2010.

Rudd was then sworn in as prime minister of Australia, a day after he unseated Gillard. He took the oath at Government House in front of Governor-General Quentin Bryce. Gillard meanwhile is quitting politics.

Last evening, I was in Jalan Sultan in Petaling Jaya where I delivered CC speech #5 (“Till Death Do Us Part”) at the IEM Toastmasters meeting. Again, I was voted Best Assignment Speaker. Thanks to Alex Lu for giving me this speaking slot. My score for this meeting was a 7 over 10.
