Pessimistic About ETP

Finally I made the trip to Uptown to attend the Lafarge Malayan Cement Toastmasters meeting – this time as a General Evaluator. For an in-house club, they are an enthusiastic group of people, and at least there were sixteen of them (including me) attending the meeting.

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has joined a growing army of critics who are pessimistic that the Economic Transformation Program (ETP) can be achieved by 2020, and is pushing for an open debate in order that the ETP can be fine-tuned. He said that a special council was needed, comprising political representatives from both coalitions, leaders from workers’ unions as well as NGOs, as the projects had not been debated “exhaustively”.
