Subtract Jobs Then, Add Jobs Now

Singapore's SEA Group e-commerce entity Shopee had at least three rounds of job cuts, their most recent layoffs being November 14, 2022. 

 

But Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz has declared that Shopee are now committed to expanding their investments in Malaysia. 

 

It seems that SEA’s proposed plans will involve the setting up of cloud services, data hosting and processing, as well as a new logistics e-commerce warehouse, thereby creating more than 2,000 jobs in the process (New Straits Times, January 29, 2023). 

 

Subtract jobs then, add jobs now?! 😒

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In another match that I was following yesterday, Celtic are still perched at the top of the Scottish Premiership as they registered a 2-0 win over Dundee United. 

 

The latter proved to be more resilient and able to hold out until Jota headed home an Aaron Mooy cross in the fifty-first minute. Five minutes later, Mooy slotted home a penalty after Jota's flick struck an opposition player's hand. 

 

Celtic host Livingston next on Wednesday.
