Liverpool Are Shite

Yesterday’s Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion saw Liverpool in dismal form, yet again. 

 

It was lifeless stuff from a team who stood off and dropped deep, had little answer to the physical or technical approach of their opponents and didn’t have an out-ball of their own when winning possession. 

 

And so, the Seagulls decisively defeated Liverpool 3-0. Three goals in the 46th, 53rd and 81st minutes to tell us pointedly that the Reds were outplayed, outfought and outclassed. 

 

Liverpool had absolutely nothing to offer here, desperate and ragged defensively and without invention, consistency or belief in attack. 

 

Liverpool are shite! And I’m being polite! 

 

Jürgen Klopp (right) consistently speaks about needing more time to prepare his team for matches. He's had a week to prepare them for this one, six weeks to sort things during the World Cup; and two weeks no game due to the Queen's passing – it would appear that more training time has only made them worse. 

 

The upcoming run of games is pretty horrific for a team in very bad form: Wolves, Chelsea, Wolves, Everton, Newcastle, Real Madrid. 

 

God save Liverpool because Jürgen Klopp can’t.

 

On Saturday, Celtic saw off Kilmarnock's stubborn resistance to win 2-0 to reach their sixth Scottish League Cup final in seven seasons. 

 

The goals came from Daizen Maeda in the eighteenth minute and Giorgos Giakoumakis who settled the tie in stoppage time. 

 

Celtic will meet either Rangers or Aberdeen – who play in today’s semi-final – on February 26.
