A Movie Shot in Space

It’s a major coup for Russia when they beat the US of A in the race to shoot a movie in space! 

 

Pushing the envelope to present an audience with an experience that's out of this world has always been central to the art of filmmaking and a Russian movie has taken that sentiment quite literally. Beating the American endeavor involving "Mission Impossible" star Tom Cruise together with NASA and Elon Musk's SpaceX to do the same, Russia's Klim Alekseevich Shipenko (Russian: Клим Алексеевич Шипенко) released the trailer for his movie “The Challenge” on Sunday, parts of which were filmed aboard the International Space Station. 

 

It is the first feature-length fiction film to be filmed in space by professional film-makers and is scheduled to be theatrically released in Russia on April 12, 2023. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“The Challenge”, also known as “Doctor's House Call” (Russian: Вызов, romanized: Vyzov) was announced four months after the Tom Cruise project in 2020. Principal photography began on October 05, 2022 when Shipenko shot about 30 hours of material (30–40 minutes of film), as well as taking on the roles of director, art director, makeup artist, and production designer. 

 

The movie's plot centres around a female cardiac surgeon – Yulia Peresild in the main role – who is dispatched to the ISS to perform an operation on a cosmonaut too ill to return to Earth immediately. Three Russian cosmonauts aboard the ISS are said to have cameo roles in the film.

Liverpool's Champions League hopes took a massive knock after what was a shambolic performance from Jürgen Klopp's side as they try and chase a top-four spot. Brentford had stunned them 3-1 yesterday.

Yet again, it proved to be another frustrating day at the office for Darwin Nunez, who squandered a couple of excellent opportunities to get his name on the scoresheet. And to think Liverpool splashed out £64.2 million (€75 million) up front for the Uruguay international striker in the summer window.
