78 Million Cases and One US Death Every 33 Seconds

Covid-19 is already responsible for 78 million cases and 1.7 million deaths.

The No.1 country is still the United States. The world knows that it so completely botched its response to the coronavirus outbreak that today, it is paying a heavy price. Last week alone, someone there died from Covid-19 every 33 seconds!

Indeed, the disease has claimed more than 18,000 lives in the seven days ended December 20, up 6.7 percent from the prior week to hit another record high, according to a Reuters analysis of state and county reports.

As of today at 00:00 GMT, America has recorded more than 18.6 million cases of the disease and 330,000 deaths.

Peru which is at #15 has logged 1 million cases.

And in the C100K group of countries, Paraguay is the latest country to gain admission! We now have seventy-four countries in total – and when combined, they account for 97.2% and 97.7% of cases and fatalities worldwide.

BTW, Malaysia is very close to meet qualification as well – just short of 2,700 cases! Easy-peasy because we have been reporting cases in four digits for thirteen days in succession!
