75 Million Cases and the Five Days of Christmas

Covid-19 is very much rampant – and it has now passed the 75 million mark worldwide.

Another European nation, Lithuania has joined the grouping of countries with 100,000 or more cases – making it #73. Collectively, these countries – henceforth, I shall refer them as the C100K – account for 97.0% and 97.6% of infections and fatalities worldwide.

It is all too apparent that these countries are struggling to tame the pandemic. But it appears that at least in the UK, there’s going to be a brief respite.

I understand that the virus is going away on holiday – therefore, the government saw fit to relax contact restrictions for five days over Christmas!

Even as large swathes of England will be added to the "very high alert" Covid-19 category this weekend, and residents are placed under the most stringent tier of restrictions to tackle the rising number of infections.

It's alright! At least, Brits can have their Christmas, even if it's only between December 23 and 27!

Have a holly, jolly Christmas
It's the best time of the year
I don't know if there'll be snow
But have a cup of cheer
Have a holly, jolly Christmas!
