The Donald Trump Star Becomes the Target

US President Donald Trump is always in the news. I guess you can say, he thrives the limelight.

This time, it was not of his own making.

A Reuters report had two determined men with pickaxes tried vainly to remove Donald Trump’s ‘star’ from the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Maybe, they should have used a jackhammer instead.

Then it was West Hollywood City Council’s turn – they voted unanimously on Monday to rid the brass and terrazzo star, embedded in the landmark stretch of a tourist-thronged Los Angeles.

“The West Hollywood City Council did not pass the resolution because Donald Trump is a conservative or a Republican”, Mayor John Duran told CNN’s Cheri Mossburg.

“Earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is an honor. When one belittles and attacks minorities, immigrants, Muslims, people with disabilities or women – the honor no longer exists”.

In any event, the vote was symbolic because they have no jurisdiction over the Walk of Fame. I suppose the idea was to prompt the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to have them remove it.

But I don’t think it’ll happen!

According to Fast Company, Trump (left) was chosen for the tribute because of his role as producer of the Miss Universe pageant. What a silly reason!

Anyway, since he entered politics – two people have destroyed his star, forcing the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to replace it. And many others have defaced, despoiled and damaged it.

It would seem that Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is now well-known – as the place for anybody and everybody who is not pro-Trump to express their disapproval and even their disgust with the president and his policies. And this includes acts of vandalism.

Pakatan Harapan were compelled to contest under PKR’s banner during GE14.

This was because the Registrar of Societies, which was then under director-general Surayati Ibrahim, withheld her consent.

But seven days after GE14, i.e. May 16, 2018, PH did receive the elusive certificate of registration.

And this was after PH had won control of the federal government.

Then, yesterday, the PH logo’s turn to receive approval from the Election Commission – just in time for the Seri Setia and Balakong by-elections.

The PH arrowhead logo, described on social media as resembling the famous Star Trek button seen on the uniforms of the fictional USS Enterprise space craft's crew is the latest to join 55 other registered political parties on the EC's website.

Pakatan Harapan can now move onward! Nothing's gonna stop them now!
