D51 AC2018 The Opening Cremony

D51 AC2018’s Opening Ceremony on April 21, 2018 is on video – and features three key speakers, i.e. Billy Teoh (Team Flantech Toastmasters Club, District 51), Chee Keng Kok (BTM Toastmasters Club, District 51) and Johnny Uy (Taipan Toastmasters Club, District 75) – the invocation presenter, the historian and keynote speaker respectively.

Hang on to their words because they educate, elucidate and enlighten:

I repeat, enjoy because some memories never fade.

On Saturday, a member of the MIM Toastmasters Club of Kuala Lumpur delivered a Level 2 speech from the Presentation Mastery pathway – and he had requested me to be his evaluator.

I accepted the challenge because there’s always learning when you give feedback to a Distinguished Toastmaster, more so when you know, he is an awesome speaker.

Ahmad Fakhri spoke about PechaKucha (Japanese: ぺちゃくちゃ), a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each – six minutes and forty seconds in total.

The format keeps presentations concise and fast-paced – and it sparked my interest. I must admit it enthralled me, maybe even ensnared me.

Certainly, I consider it an excellent method for developing presentation skills, particularly in the workplace.

Anyway, I did my job and I was rewarded by being voted Best Speech Evaluator:

Photos from the said meeting are shown below:

Just in case you’re wondering why many of the members were in non-formal attire – this was because it was a thematic meeting – related to ‘hiking’. Ahmad Fakhri’s brainchild.
