The sandiwara has begun. 

First, Hishammuddin Hussein said on April 19 that Bersih 3.0 does not pose a security threat to the nation. He seems to suggest that the April 28 rally is no big deal because the civil rights movement’s demands had gained little traction with the public. 

Then DBKL withheld permission for Bersih to use Dataran Merdeka and the mayor – whose salary is paid for by taxpayers – showed his brash arrogance by threatening action against the election reform movement if they still insist on proceeding. 

And the Dang Wangi police chief, Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman told Bersih on Monday they will not permit this Saturday’s rally due to security reasons. 

It’s the same merry-go-round. Doesn’t all of this remind you of Bersih 2.0? The U-turn isn’t even a surprise. The flip-flopping is a given. 

The stage is set for Bersih 3.0. It’s time to show BN that Malaysians are more than ready to rock for change!
