WSC's Thirty-third Meeting

 

On Wednesday, we celebrated our fourth anniversary. This was the World Speakers’ Coalition Kuala Lumpur’s thirty-third meeting.

 

And not forgetting to celebrate September month's birthdays of Suriakumar (and Yen in absentia) too. FYI, we ordered a Musang King durian cake from Le Bons 9.

 

As per our third anniversary meet-up, Suria was again the designated organizer and host. 

 

And he picked a new venue – Twenty Eight @ Bangsar – a cozy little restaurant and bar located at No. 28, Jalan Telawi 5 in downtown Bangsar.

 

Eight members and one guest turned up.

 

Our meeting theme is "Remembering".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Given the topic, of course we all reminisce, recall and recollect, sharing our memories, good and bad. Mostly personal stuff in the form of pithy yarns, palpable anecdotes and poignant tales.

 

Dr Prega shared this – he found it on TikTok – and I thought it was really meaningful: 

 

You can return to the past,

Your old school is there,

But your friends aren't.

But your family doesn't live there.

The coffee shop you loved still exists,

But the barista who knew your order has left.

The streets are familiar,

But the faces aren't.

The buildings are the same,

But the energy has changed.

The past is a place,

But the present is where life happens.

Now if you aren't following Caesar's legacy,

You will most likely never hear our voice again.

But if you are,

You are growing every day.

 

Coincidentally, there was a stand-up comedy open mic event in the same location that evening – but only two members stayed back for "Hump Day".
