The veteran Democrat was invited to put on the hat as he attended an event commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump's opponent in the November presidential election.
He was visiting firefighters in Shanksville, Pennsylvania near where one of the four hijacked planes crashed, and the White House claimed he sported the hat as a gesture of unity.
Video and still images of the president in the hat, bearing the slogan "Trump 2024", quickly went viral.
The Trump campaign's War Room rapid reaction account quipped that Biden had put the hat on because "Kamala did so bad in last night's debate".
This particular incident came the day after a prime-time televised presidential debate between Trump and Harris, in which the Republican told his opponent: "Biden hates you".
In fact, it happened hours after Trump had joked on the debate stage about sending Harris a Make America Great Again hat!
And according to BBC News, the daughter of the man who swapped hats with the president said Biden kept the Trump hat after the interaction!
Pope Francis (left) made a rare political comment on Friday when he advised US Catholics to choose the "lesser EVIL" (my emphasis) when casting their ballots on November 05.
The Pope did not refer to Donald Trump or Kamala Harris by name though. But it is obvious he is critical of both candidates.
