Oreos landed on the shelves in 1912 and forever changed the snack scene. The classic creme-filled sandwich cookie earned comfort-food status, became a popular dessert flavor, and even inspired many copycat products.
But if there's one thing that sets Oreo apart from other cookies, it's that the brand loves to reimagine its iconic confection.
Over the past 112 years, Oreo has released an expansive variety of cookies, drawing inspiration from candy, snack foods, beverages – you name it. While a lot of these flavors didn't stick around for too long, some were so well-received that they became permanent additions, e.g., Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie.
Some of the unusual flavors have included Hot Chicken Wing, Wasabi, Waffles & Syrup, Key Lime Pie, Firework, The Most Oreo, Swedish Fish, Apple Cider Donut, Root Beer Float, and Cotton Candy.
But on September 09, there's a mashup that goes in both directions: the Oreo-flavored Coke Zero and Coke-flavored Oreos. And 7-Eleven stores will also offer a frozen version of the Oreo Coke Zero.
While the Oreo-flavored Coke Zero is self-explanatory, further description is required for the Oreo cookies.
Coke's official site describes them this way: "The OREO® Coca‑Cola™ Sandwich Cookie features two signature chocolate "basecakes" (individual cookies) paired with a Coca‑Cola taste, embossed with Coca‑Cola designs, with a smooth white-colored creme and studded with red edible glitter. Coca‑Cola® OREO™ Zero Sugar features a refreshing Coca‑Cola taste with flavorful, OREO cookie-inspired hints".
