The women doubles pair slayed world No. 10 Kim So Yeong-Kong Hee Yong of South Korea in straight sets.
Fun fact: The duo started the first set and scored 7 straight points and they ended the game in the second set with eight straight points. Astonishingly awesome, astoundingly amazing!
And so, they won 21-12, 21-13 in 41 minutes to set up a meeting with China’s world No. 1 Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan tomorrow – making them the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to reach the Olympic semi-finals.
Qing Chen-Yi Fan, who are the silver medalists of the Tokyo 2020 edition, eliminated Bulgaria’s Gabriela Stoeva-Stefani Stoeva 21-15, 21-8 in another quarter-final action.
Pearly Tan says: "We came into the Olympics with the mentality that we had nothing to lose but just to give our best in every match. So against Qing Chen-Yi Fan, we will continue our momentum, give our best and enjoy every point with no regrets".
As for Thinaah, she maintains she does not want to lose focus over their history-making feat, preferring to concentrate on their next match instead.
