UK to Drill for More Oil and Gas

In the UK, “Just Stop Oil” climate activists have become Public Nuisance No. 1. And the police won’t do anything to stop them. One fine day, public civility will fade away and you can expect to see all hell breaks loose. 

 

Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham and former Home Secretary called them “shameful, attention seeking, disrespectful low life”. 

And whether they know it or not, their slow-walk protests and disruptive stunts at public events have zilch effect on the UK government’s energy decisions. On Monday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (left) announced that the country is to press ahead with a new phase of North Sea oil and gas exploration and production. 

“Hundreds” of licences will be granted in September and in subsequent rounds of licensing. The aim is explicit. Rather than winding down the industry and keeping the resources in the ground as part of the transition to the net zero target, Sunak wants to max out production of the North Sea’s remaining reserves. 

"Just Stop Oil" are only good at inconveniencing the public! They sure can't stop the government!
