Liverpool Miss Out

Yesterday, Liverpool's hopes of winning a quadruple were dashed on the final day of the Premier League season as a tense 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers proved too little to deny Manchester City the title. 

The Reds were dealt an early blow when Wolves scored in the third minute – but Sadio Mane slotted in an equaliser 21 minutes later. Then the second goal arrived in the eighty-fourth minute when Mohamed Salah bundled in from close range – earning himself a share of the Golden Boot in the process – and five minutes afterward, Andy Robertson added a third.

In another game, Manchester City needed victory to earn their fourth Premier League title in five seasons. They were facing the prospect of ending the season empty-handed as two goals either side of the interval put Aston Villa 2-0 ahead and in control. 

But the Citizens staged a magnificent fightback to produce three goals in five minutes (76, 78, 81) and secured a 3-2 win over the Claret and Blue to take matters out of the Reds' hands. 

For Liverpool, a gut-wrenching way to miss out on the title by one point again! If you watched the game, you’ll know it was a case of being so tantalisingly near and yet so effing far! 

It’s okay! The Reds can still be proud of themselves because they gave a good fight anyway! 

Jürgen Klopp's side have already won the League Cup and FA Cup and will now look to add to that collection by becoming European champions for a seventh time when they play Real Madrid in Saturday's final in Paris, France. 

The final silverware score could still end up: Liverpool 3 Manchester City 1. Still a unique treble!
