Share a Coke Promo

Coca-Cola’s “Share A Coke” promotion, which is running in some markets, is really cool! The idea is to allow people to take the Coca-Cola script and replace it with their name on the can and send it flying around the net to further embellish the Coke brand.

But many decided to be more creative and it’s not just names on Coke cans anymore but there’s also a profusion of unintended messages. Everything from 'Boycott Coke' to 'Puck Futin' – that one is because the web app doesn't allow you to use the words 'Fuck' or 'Putin'.

It doesn’t matter if the words didn’t come out right because most people can still understand what they were supposed to convey.

And on Coke’s South African website, submissions of pro-gay words generated an error message reading, "Oops. Let's pretend you didn't just type that. Please try another name".

Of course, LGBT members and activists were distressed – more so, when words like “Straight” were accepted.

On Tuesday, Coca-Cola published an apology on its website, stating that the program was incorrectly formatted and that the website has been pulled down until the glitch can be corrected.

Sometimes, having a clever promo can still produce a boomerang effect.

I saw this on Facebook and wanted to share it with everybody. And I wondered how many men would agree?!?
