Isma Shames Islam

When the likes of Isma decided to paint the Malaysian canvas, smearing it with anti-Chinese insolence and then followed it up with anti-Christian impudence – the brushstrokes of hateful hostility communicated the virulent venom that they were meant to convey.

And yet, thankfully, there is a voice of moderation attempting to defeat abominations like Isma. Prominent Islamic scholar and former mufti of Perlis Dr Asri Zainul Abidin (left) stated emphatically that Islam is not under attack in Malaysia, and extremist Islamist groups that constantly warn of alleged Christianization are only shaming their own religion.

I hope others too can summon their courage to do the same.

And Asri shared an interesting fact: "The closest people to the Muslims are Christians. The Quran‎ says you will find that the people who love Muslims the most are Christians".

National squash queen Nicol David cruised into the semi-final of the 2014 British Open when she dispatched 11th seed, Egyptian Omneya Abdel Kawy with a 11-7, 12-10 and 11-4 win in the quarter-final match held yesterday in Hull. She took only 39 minutes.

It was however a different ball game for national number two, Low Wee Wern when she lost 5-11, 6-11 and 8-11 against world number three, Raneem El Weleily of Egypt. Still, she has done well because she made progress.
