While revellers everywhere were drinking and celebrating St Patrick’s Day in joyous fun, one Ontario town in Canada called London has seen the celebration got out of hand and turned into a pitched battle between students and the authorities.
The students had supposedly set a large street fire on Saturday night and continue to feed it with furniture, mattresses, fences, uprooted trees, a large TV set, and even a nine-kilogram propane tank.
Authorities claimed the crowd continuously threw bricks and beer bottles at police officers and refused to allow fire crews to douse the blaze in a scene police likened to a war zone.
Police in London, Ontario, said at least 11 people have been arrested so far, and more arrests were expected as authorities review video of the disturbance and witness statements. Seventeen police vehicles were damaged. No serious injuries were reported.
Methinks, these kids were too drunk and got the dates mixed up! They had believed it was Guy Fawkes Night!
