NATO Remain a Key Threat to Russia’s Security

A key threat to Russia’s national security still emanates from NATO, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said in an interview with the Kommersant daily on Wednesday. 

He drew attention to the fact that "according to official data alone, the size of the alliance’s military personnel equals over 4 million troops and the bloc has over 50,000 tanks and armored fighting vehicles, more than 7,000 combat aircraft and over 750 warships at its disposal". 

As Shoigu (right) pointed out, the planned "boost in military spending will only strengthen this potential". 

"Besides, we should not forget that the alliance’s member states operate a cluster of about 350 military and civilian satellites that are being actively used against Russia in the Ukraine conflict. Moreover, this figure does not take into account thousands of Starlink satellites", Shoigu added.

I still think the NATO threat is overhyped. More a paper tiger than the military colossus they want to project. But I accept that as long as NATO exist, they can't resist but intimidate and threaten Russia. 

They will want to try anyway. More so if the US is standing behind them.

Pearly Tan-Thinaah Muralitharan again did well when they stormed into the women's doubles quarter-finals at the Japan Open on Thursday. The Malaysian pair outclassed Taiwan's world No. 11 Hsieh Pei Shan-Hung En Tzu 21-14, 21-16 in 35 minutes in the second round in Tokyo. 

Pearly-Thinaah will next take on world No. 68 Jeong Na Eun-Lee Yeon Woo of South Korea on Friday – the same duo they beat to win the Thailand Open title in May.
