The Football Association and manufacturers Nike have doubled down on the design, insisting they have no plans to recall the jersey.
Nike describe the navy, light blue and purple colors as a "playful update" on the nation’s flag and as they say "to unite and inspire"(!).
Many fans and commentators disagree and have reacted angrily since the release of the kit – which England will wear at Euro 2024 this summer – branding it "woke" and "dumb".
And then, there is the new Team GB look.
Designers behind Team GB's new Union Jack look say they wanted to make it more "inclusive" after a British Olympic Association appeal to attract younger fans.
Design and marketing agency Thisaway are facing a backlash for their dizzying rebrand incorporating pink and purple – as well as meaningless graffiti-like squiggles.
It must be noted that Team GB athletes will still wear the traditional Union Jack (right) on their official kit. And the redesigned flag is to be only on merchandise ahead of the Olympic Games (July 26–August 11, 2024) in Paris, France.
Fans first spotted the rebranded design at the World Aquatic Championships in Qatar last month.
Again, abundant critics have voiced out their unhappiness.
England's most-capped footballer Peter Shilton, declares: "It feels that nothing is held sacred these days in the UK. Our national flag has been symbolic for many years and should never be changed".
Malcom Farrow, president of the Flag Institute, a UK flag promotion charity, agrees: "I don’t approve of our national symbol of unity being defaced".
UK's The Sun says "the Union Jack does not need a trendy multi-colored 'rebrand' – leave our flag alone". After all, the red, white and blue emblem is instantly recognisable worldwide.
And I'm certain some would even describe it all as woke madness!
