The Boeing Bad News Are Not Stopping

The Boeing bad news are not stopping – they just keep on coming. I was not joking when I said in my post last Sunday that I got tired of reporting Boeing's safety and quality issues because they are really commonplace as the three latest incidents below clearly illustrate.

 

A Virgin Australia flight VA1845 destined for Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, was diverted back to Perth amid reports of a “technical issue” mid-air. 

 

The Boeing 737-8FE had been seen circling above the latter’s northern suburbs on Tuesday. It is believed the landing gear failed to retract and was fixed mid-air – but the crew was advised to return to Perth for safety checks.

 

A United Airlines Boeing 777 traveling from Germany to the US was forced to make a U-turn two hours into its flight on Friday, after a toilet leaked and began overflowing into the cabin. 

 

The aircraft circled over the North Sea as the crew unsuccessfully tried to fix the problem, prompting the pilots to return to Frankfurt. 

 

A United spokesperson said the flight experienced “a maintenance issue pertaining to the lavatory”, adding that passengers had been accommodated overnight and rescheduled for travel to San Francisco the following day.

 

And in the US, an investigation is underway into a Boeing 737 that mistakenly deployed an evacuation slide, according to Avelo Airlines. Flight XP185 which departed from California's Hollywood Burbank Airport arrived at Salem in Massachusetts  on Thursday, March 28 without incident. Passengers were preparing to get off the plane when the flight crew reported an issue.

 

“After the aircraft landed, the flight crew opened the main front left entry door, and the evacuation slide became partially unhoused”, Avelo spokesperson Madison Jones said. Passengers had to get off the plane through the back door, he added. 

 

The aircraft returned to service after the incident, and Avelo officials said they are “reviewing the cause of the slide’s partial deployment”.

 

Already, a small but growing number of would-be travelers are jumping on social media to say they won’t be flying in a Boeing plane. 😓😓😓

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Russia on Wednesday reported a dramatic increase in the number of people enlisting in the nation's armed forces. 

As per the Russian defence ministry, more than 100,000 people have signed contracts since the beginning of the year. Of this, about 16,000 have signed up in the past 10 days alone!

In a statement, the ministry said that many recent candidates cited a desire to avenge those killed in the March 22 attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Moscow. And Ukraine has been implicated.

Over 617,000 service members are said to be currently on the frontlines against Ukraine.
