A pretend-celebrity and well-known not-world-leader Ivanka Trump (right), daughter of Donald Trump made an awkward appearance at the G20 Osaka Summit 2019 in Japan (June 28-29).
She spent time talking to, or if the videos are to be believed, trying to make meaningful talk with world leaders.
This produced one particularly good clip of her appearing to be unable to contribute anything to a conversation with French president Emmanuel Macron, British prime minister Theresa May, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, and head of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde.
BTW, the said video was released by the French presidential palace!
Following her infamous G20 appearance, Trump started popping up on Twitter in lots of history-in-the-making situations where she shouldn’t be.
#UnwantedIvanka quickly spread across all of time and space – but not everyone is laughing.
US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (left) used the moment to scathingly point out that "being someone's daughter actually isn't a career qualification".
Still, like it or not, Trump's official capacity is as advisor to the US President and she is a constant presence in the White House.
The hashtag #UnwantedIvanka was started by writer and podcaster Erin Gloria Ryan (right).
“The reason I started the #UnwantedIvanka hashtag was because I find her presence in high level diplomatic talks embarrassing, ridiculous, and dangerous”, she had tweeted. “The reason it took off is that lots of people, from all over the world, apparently agree”. LOL!
