PAS Youth piled further pressure on Islamic affairs minister Jamil Khir Baharom (right) on Monday, accusing him of further misappropriation of zakat funds to Yayasan Taqwa, a foundation established in 1990 that are tasked to collect and disburse zakat (alms).
According to PAS’ Kamaruzaman Mohamed, on September 17, 2011, Yayasan Taqwa requested for RM1 million from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP).
And on November 12, 2011, MAIWP approved RM4 million.
The intriguing point is that Jamil Khir is both the chairperson of MAIWP and the trust holder for Yayasan Taqwa. This of course, raises the question of how someone can make a request and then approve it himself!
And then that million-dollar question: Where has the RM3 million gone to?
