War Criminal in Dublin

Tony Blair was on the receiving end when eggs and shoes were hurled at him by anti-war protesters yesterday in Dublin, where the former British prime minister held his first book-signing event to promote his memoirs – released this week – in which he passionately defends his policies including the 2003 decision to help invade Iraq. The book “A Journey” is best described as a self-serving tale of spin. Regretfully, none of the eggs and shoes found their target.

Two hundred plus campaigners, who turned out in the pouring rain, were chanting: "Hey hey Tony hey, how many kids have you killed today?" They also shouted: "Tony Blair war criminal" and "blood on your hands".

It’s good to read that people did get the chance to express the extent and depth of their contempt for Blair. But can we make sure the projectiles hit their mark the next time, please?

In addition to this protest, thousands of Facebook users have joined a group on the social networking site called “Subversively move Tony Blair’s memoirs to the crime section in book shops”. Users also posted photos of "A Journey" relocated to several bookstores' fiction, crime and even "dark fantasy" shelves.
