With $66 million in cash prizes for winning a beauty pageant, for sure, a lot is at stake.
The Associated Press reported that forty-three participants were disqualified from the competition after judges found these beauties had made illegal enhancements to their faces! It appears that they had subjected themselves to Botox injections, face-lifts and other cosmetic procedures that are strictly prohibited.
Officials said this was the highest number of disqualifications in the contest's history.
The event is part of a month-long King Abdulaziz Camel Festival that began December 01 – and it is believed that 33,000 camels took part. Judges rate the camels based on their facial features, humps, and posture.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, "specialized and advanced" technology was used to detect the deception. As per the SPA's report, the breeders stretched the facial features of the camels, pumped Botox into them to enlarge their heads and lips, and injected the camels with fillers to relax their facial muscles.
I don't know why but suddenly, Joe Camel comes to mind! LOL!
