Sunway University Toastmasters Club and Toastmasters from more than 20 clubs came together for the Sunway TES Youth Leadership Program starting Friday.
This two-and-a-half day interactive workshop at Sunway University was designed to help ninety-four PPAM (Peneraju Profesional Akauntan Muda) scholars who are enrolled on the professional accounting courses to be equipped with communication skills, the Toastmasters way. Most important of all, the YLP was to give the young participants a good level of confidence to allow them to go up on the stage and speak before an audience.
We covered "Organizing your Speech", "Importance of Good Listening Skills". "Effective Evaluation", "Work with Words", "Vocal Variety", "Gestures in Speaking" and "Impromptu Speaking", accompanied by lots of exercises. Suffice to say, by the end of Saturday, all participants would have learned public speaking. It was not just the learning but as we all know, Toastmasters provide a conducive environment which is both supportive and fun!
