A giant gorilla (Genus: Gorilla) with brooding good looks and rippling muscles is causing a stir at a Japanese zoo, with women flocking to check out the hunky pin-up.
Shabani (left), an 18-year-old silverback who tips the scales at around 180 kilograms (400 pounds), has become the star attraction at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, striking smouldering poses the movie model in "Zoolander" would be proud of.
"He often rests his chin on his hands and looks intently at you," zoo spokesperson Takayuki Ishikawa told AFP on Friday.
"He is more buff than most gorillas and he's at his peak physically. We've seen a rise in the number of female visitors – women say he's very good-looking".

Shabani, who was raised at Sydney's Taronga Zoo but moved to Japan in 2007, shot to fame after being made the campaign model for the zoo's spring festival early this year.
Women have taken to social media to swoon about Shabani's rugged looks, describing him as "ikemen" – or a hunk – and likening him to a male model – so much so that Japan's broadcasters NHK and NTV took to featuring the gorilla on popular shows.
Sigh! This primate has all the luck!
On Thursday afternoon, I was at the IJM Toastmasters meeting at Wisma IJM in PJ’s Jalan Yong Shook Lin, to evaluate a Toastmaster who presented her Advanced speech from the Technical Presentations manual.
Still a good meeting even if there was only one speech! Together with the Table Topics and the Humor from Dickson Choy – these ensured those of us present had our usual fill of Toastmastering!

And in the evening, I was also in the vicinity of another Club, i.e. IEM Toastmasters Club.
Again, the meeting started on time and ended within time. I just think the environment wasn't conducive for a Toastmasters meeting. But I suppose, a Toastmasters meeting is still a Toastmasters meeting!
