US Appeals Court Ruling Mandates ByteDance Divestment

A three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled on Friday in favor of upholding a law requiring China-based ByteDance to divest its popular short video app TikTok in the United States by early next year or face a ban.

 

TikTok and its parent ByteDance sued in federal court to block a US law passed in April that would force ByteDance to divest of TikTok. They argued that the law would harm free speech.

 

The ruling could be appealed to the Supreme Court before the ban takes effect on January 19.

 

This is interesting: How shopping malls are being transformed into apartments in the US.

 

Given that many malls in metropolitan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are already failing and dying a slow death, e.g., Summit USJ Mall, One City Mall, Atria Shopping Gallery, Quill City Mall, Jaya Shopping Centre, Cheras Central Mall and Endah Parade Mall – this could be a viable option. 

 

It's better than leaving them be and turning involuntarily into "ghost" malls.
