This time around, he's turned his attention to the haka, a ceremonial dance and performance art in Māori culture that is known for its vigorous movements and rhythmic foot-stamping.
Starting with her maiden parliamentary speech on December 13, 2023, where she performed a haka and ending with the protest where she tore up a contentious bill – the Treaty Principles Bill, which aimed to reinterpret the 184-year-old Treaty of Waitangi (in Māori, Hīkoi mo te Tiriti) – and led her parliamentary colleagues in a haka on November 14, 2024, causing parliament to be briefly suspended:
