8 of the Best Public Speaking Books

Rathippriyah Balsan (right), a digital creator and a Toastmaster – a DTM no less – published this post on her Facebook page on Thursday – and she makes my day!

That’s because “The Diamond in Your Speech” is one of eight books on Public Speaking she identified and highlighted!

Of course lah, I'm suggesting that you read the said piece which I’ve copied – and as you can already imagine, I’m over the moon. Yay-y-y!

Balsan's postπŸ‘‡

“Holla!

Public Speaking has been ALWAYS a part of me since primary school.

Thanks to Toastmasters for unleashing my potential and moulding me to be a better speaker.

I've been in Toastmasters for 12 years now.

My favorite books are ‘The Art Of Public Speaking' by Stephen Lucas and ‘The Diamond in Your Speech’ by Ahmad Fakhri & Victor Ong.

What's your favorite pick?

8 of the Best Public Speaking Books

These 8 public speaking books discuss a good number of techniques and methods to help you work on your public speaking skills. The books clue you in on the essentials of public speaking and more.

Sure, there are a huge trove of articles on public speaking you can find online and admittedly, they offer good tips – but generally-speaking, they focus on very specific areas that span the realm of public speaking. Books, on the other hand, provide complete insights that cover a wide spectrum on the subject of public speaking. That’s why these books are great because the authors have put in many hours of research as well as sharing their vast public speaking experiences, so you get everything at your fingertips.

Here’s my compiled list of the best 8 public speaking books – not in any particular order – you need to read (so you don’t have to trawl through a hundred pages of reviews for the best ones!)
  • Stephen Lucas, The Art of Public Speaking (1983)
  • Mike Acker, Speak With No Fear (2019)
  • Ahmad Fakhri & Victor Ong, The Diamond in Your Speech (2022)
  • Rob Biesenbach, Unleash the Power of Storytelling: Win Hearts, Change Minds, Get Results (2018)
  • Chris Anderson, TED Talks: The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking (2017)
  • Carmine Gallo, Talk Like TED: The 9 Public-Speaking Secrets of the World's Top Minds (2015)
  • Dale Carnegie, The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking (1962)
  • James May, How to Win an Argument: An Ancient Guide to the Art of Persuasion (2016)
NOTE: The above is based on my own opinion but I daresay, they have proven to be really invaluable”.
