Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysia's Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim on Friday exchanged congratulations on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Xinhua reported.
China and Malaysia are neighbors with a millennium-old friendship, friends whose hearts are connected, and partners for win-win cooperation, Xi said.
History remembers May 31, 1974, the day when Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai and Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak jointly signed the China-Malaysia Joint Communique, officially establishing diplomatic relations.

And Zhou reportedly expressed: "I have long awaited your visit to Beijing, and today you are finally here!"
This has been fifty years of solid achievements. Bilateral trade between the two countries has ballooned from less than $200 million at the time of establishing diplomatic relations to $190.24 billion last year, an increase of more than 950 times!
Former US President Donald Trump said while he would accept a prison sentence for his "criminal" conviction, it could prove a “breaking point” for his supporters ahead of his country's presidential elections in November. (He did not elaborate on what he thought might happen if that point is reached).
The warning will resonate in a country already concerned about the prospect of civil unrest and political harassment in the run-up to the November 05 ballot.
Trump faces three other criminal trials – 51 charges in total – including one related to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election he lost to Joe Biden.
