Covid-19 is on a stampede again and continues to trample lives. It’s now 44 million infections and 1.1 million fatalities!
If we wish to be more accurate, we can pin the numbers down to 44,221,963 cases and 1,171,149 deaths as at today, 00:00 GMT, according to data aggregation site Worldometers.
It’s still the same 48 countries which have 100,000 or more cases – and together, they constitute 93.3% and 95.4% of total global cases and deaths respectively.
Yesterday, Liverpool moved two points clear at the top of Group D with a forgettable but precious 2-0 victory over Champions League rookies FC Midtjylland.
The Reds took the lead in the fifty-fifth minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold played a neat one-two with Xherdan Shaqiri, the former teeing-up Diogo Jota to tap home in front of an empty Kop. And then Mohamed Salah (90+3) won a penalty and which he took and scored himself to wrap up the game.
