Exactly 125 years ago an Atlanta pharmacist mixed up a cure for headache and fatigue and stumbled upon the recipe for what has become one of the world's most recognizable drinks and brand names. Coca Cola is celebrating the moment when on May 8, 1886 John Pemberton made his way into American culture, creating a soft drink now sold in more than 200 countries and earning The Cola-Cola Company a place among the world's top 100 companies. Hmmm, when I was teaching at HICT, I normally had two cans of Coke for my morning pick-me-up.
The principal of Team Lotus, Tony Fernandes and pals, had bought over the niche British sportscar company Caterham. Documents supporting the fact has indicated that Anthony Francis Fernandes was appointed a director of Caterham Cars as of April 12, 2011 (Webpage http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/automotive-news/374073-tony-fernandes-buys-over-caterham.html, posted April 24, 2011). Caterham initially begun as a dealer for the Lotus Seven and then purchased the rights to continue manufacturing the Seven when Lotus ceased production in 1973.
The move to buy over Caterham is important to Fernandes because of the ongoing dispute between Fernandes' Team Lotus and the Group Lotus about the usage of the Lotus name. The Caterham acquisition offers Fernandes an alternative should the London High Court deliver its final verdict that would force him to relinquish using the Lotus name.
