Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng (left) said Saturday that Pakatan Harapan have managed to boost government coffers by seven times in only 4 months after taking over from the Najib Razak administration that had just RM450 million of ready funds for spending.
He noted that the PH federal administration saw their four-month revenue during the May-August 2018 period growing to RM73.58 billion as compared to the slightly lower RM71.88 billion during the January-April 2018 period, while at the same time substantially reducing its operational expenditure by RM12.96 billion from the previous four-month period’s RM83.29 billion to RM70.33 billion.
He duly reminded us that the BN government splurged a startling RM83.29 billion on operating expenditure in the four months leading up to GE14, leaving the country high and dry with an account deficit of RM11.41 billion.
Lim had shown us the sums – the Treasury had RM11.86 billion as at January this year but by the time, PH took over Putrajaya, the Consolidated Revenue Account was left with RM450 million.
Of course, Lim chalked the PH Government's success down to their “sound and prudent financial management practises”. But of course!
