We see Hong Kong through rose-tinted glasses. The Cantonese drama serials on telly and Astro give us insights into the lives of the people there, even though we know that these represent the celluloid version only. And because the city has an enviable reputation as an international financial center, we seem to be under the impression that Hong Kong is affluent and prosperous.
But there is also the gritty side of Hong Kong which is not often seen; some say carefully hidden. The following pictures of urbanites living in confined and cramped spaces present us with another look at the real Hong Kong:
