Texas is the primary epicenter, with confirmed cases spreading across 16 other states. Major regional groceries racing to pull the items from their shelves include Kroger (locations across Texas and Louisiana), Simple Truth (locations across Texas and Louisiana), Brookshire’s (spanning six southern states) and FRESH by Reasor’s (spanning six southern states).
This contamination marks the third high-profile hit to grocery shelves this month, following a massive Cyclospora parasite outbreak linked to Taylor Farms iceberg lettuce and a widespread Salmonella outbreak from Coast Citrus fresh jalapeños.
