After playing hide-and-seek with KEPENTAS meetings for months, karma finally caught up with me on Wednesday.
I walked into the room at Sunway Mentari, again challenging myself to speak in Malay. For context, everyone was required to speak – no exceptions, no hiding in the back. My brain stayed calm, even though I could feel the nervousness slowly creeping in.
When my turn arrived, my tongue waged a fierce battle with the language. A 12-minute presentation was brutally executed – and deceased – in under eight minutes flat.
The silver lining? At least I saved everyone four minutes of their lives.
Honestly, I should take this as a sign to stop treating KEPENTAS like an optional side quest and actually show up consistently before my next linguistic ambush.
