World Speech Day is a Summons to Speak

Consider World Speech Day as a summons to speak. In any language/dialect.

And it is coming to you in March 2021.

In March 2020, Harvey Weinstein (left) was sentenced to 23 years in prison, following his conviction for rape and sexual assault. Now, he has been stripped of his honorary CBE.

An official announcement in The Gazette confirms that the Queen has annulled his appointment as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. The decision was made at a meeting of the Honours Forfeiture Committee, which is independent from government.

Weinstein was awarded the CBE in 2004. [FYI, it is a mid-rank British royal honor that is generally given for outstanding work in an individual's respective field].

I am incredulous that it has taken more than six months to rescind the CBE of a convicted sex offender. A speedy decision should have been made once he was convicted in February.

My thoughts turn to another felon, Najib Razak, who himself has a string of royal honours.
