The 4 Missing Activists

The Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) have released a 196-page report pertaining to their inquiry on the missing activists, i.e. pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat – as well as two others, i.e. pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife, Ruth Sitepu – describing them as victims of “enforced disappearances” by the police’s Special Branch.

This means Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun (left) must be investigated because he was the former Special Branch chief at that time. He knew a lot more than what he shared with Suhakam.

Yesterday, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who was previously the Home Minister under the BN government denied he gave any instruction nor had any knowledge of the said abductions.

And prime minister Mahathir Mohamad did not help matters at all when he labelled Suhakam’s findings as “hearsay”.

“I don’t know if they (Suhakam) have evidence to prove this is what happened. If they have, of course, we will take it up... But please remember this did not happen during our time. It happened under the previous government. A lot of things were hidden from us and the public”, Mahathir remarked.

It is imperative that we set up the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission as an independent oversight body to investigate complaints against the police without delay and then, begin the arduous task of overhauling the entire force!

On Wednesday, Celtic beat St Mirren 2-0 and brought themselves closer to the Scottish Premiership title yet again.
