Bring Down Najib

I am no longer attending the New Year countdowns – at least not in Malaysia. More so when the country is in a crisis.

What can go wrong in this country has gone terribly wrong. We are going downhill and on the rocky road to doomsday. I don't think I am exaggerating because our problems are painfully real.

A country once vibrant and confident is now riddled with kleptocracy, cronyism, a breakdown of our national institutions and including an education system that produces unthinking graduates who can’t communicate nor even speak well in English. Plus many other ills.

Anyway, hundreds of protesters marched in a peaceful Turun Minyak, Turun Najib (Bring down fuel prices, bring down Najib) rally to usher in the New Year.

Chants of “Turun, turun, harga minyak!” “Turun, turun, turun kos sara hidup!”, “Turun, turun, turun Najib!” and “Hidup hidup, hidup pemuda!” rang out, with kompang drum beats adding to the carnival-like atmosphere.

More Malaysians should have participated. I should too – but regretfully, I didn’t. Sorry.

I see 2018 as Change coming to Malaysia.

I believe it will happen. Let's all believe!
