Abdul Hadi Awang Pushes Cooperation with UMNO

Abdul Hadi Awang (left) has shot himself in the foot. Or maybe, both feet.
On Saturday, he said that whether or not UMNO have ulterior motives in pledging support for PAS’s hudud bid in Kelantan does not matter as long as they help the Islamist party achieve their objective.
The Malay Mail Online quoted him as saying “UMNO want to co-operate with us then we co-operate. Whether or not they are sincere let Allah decide”.
It is as clear as day. Hadi had made his intention known and his next move obvious. Anybody who still believes Hadi is blameless is most likely a Hadi groupie a vacuous victim of imbecilic idiocy.
As far as most of us are concerned, Hadi is not the man he claims to be – a person who is trustworthy, honest and honorable. Otherwise, the PAS president would not have done what he did. And in the process, he is undoing the hard gains made by Pakatan Rakyat.
Hadi has betrayed his political partners. Also the electorate that voted for PR. Not once, not twice – but thrice.
The first instance was in 2013 when Hadi authorised PAS candidature to contest in six state assembly seats which had been allotted to PKR, resulting in three-cornered fights and Pakatan Rakyat defeats. And PR had a good chance of winning.
The second instance was in August 2014 when Hadi overruled a PR leadership decision that PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail be appointed as Selangor Menteri Besar. That go-it-alone decision by Hadi caused massive headaches for PKR.
The third time was Hadi’s reneging on his personal commitment on February 08, 2015 that any amendment to Kelantan syariah law and any private member’s Bill for Parliament to enable enforcement of hudud would first be presented to the PR leadership. The fact that he completely ignored his PKR and DAP colleagues showed his disdain and contempt for the PR leadership.
I say enough is enough.
Abdul Hadi Awang proudly wears the clothes of piety. But he keeps changing his tune to suit his personal agenda. He uses Islam for his political convenience. It is not incorrect to say he embodies defiance, disrespect and despisement.
It is time for Pakatan Rakyat to make a clean break with PAS. And the decision must be made soon.
On Saturday afternoon, I was at Taylor’s University for the Division D International Speech Contest and after my speech – I was the first speaker – I raced to Inti International College Subang for the Division G Table Topics Contest. (Special thanks to Amy Lim for helping me register for the latter contest).

All photos below were taken at the Division G Contests on April 11, 2015:

I wasn’t placed in the former but I emerged Champion in the latter. At least I earned the trip to Langkawi for the District-level competition on May 03, 2015.
